| 2nd User Conference, April 2005Report from the 2nd ia.cmm international user conference Sinsheim Conference Centre, Thursday 28th April 2005
• Software Speakers & Themes Maurizio Ercole, graduated at Mechanical Engineering at “Istituto Tecnico Industriale A. Avogadro” of Torino. Started his activity in mechanical design at Snia Viscosa where he was involved with the design of machinery for synthetic and artificial fibre production. In 1977 he joined DEA (Digital Electronic Automation) as responsible for Application Department. During the 25 years spent with DEA he covered the positions of Product Manager, R&D Group Leader, Marketing Manager and General Manager. He patented a number of important products in Co-ordinate Measuring Technology. Maurizio Ercole is currently Chairman of the Board of ia.cmm, the International Association of Co-ordinate Measuring Machine Manufacturers. Kai Glaesner began working for DaimlerChrysler in 1996. He was involved in development of DaimlerChrysler own inspection software. This task incorporated running a common software company-wide in a multi-hardware-vendor environment of CMM's. He introduced a object-oriented approach for CMM connectivity and today is responsible for online-inspection software for car bodies at DaimlerChrysler. He is involved in I++ as a member of the I++ DME specification-group and takes part in the I++ management circle. John Horst has been working in dimensional metrology for over 10 years. From 1999 to the present, he has been leading a team of NIST researchers that are helping industry enable subsystem interoperability. This work involves the development of test suites (consisting of test parts, test cases, and software test utilities) for testing the conformance and interoperability of implementations of an interface standard. This work is essential to enable sufficiently functional and unambiguously defined non-proprietary interface languages and implementations for all the key interfaces in dimensional metrology. Klaus P. Keferstein, PhD at University of Stuttgart. Present positions: University of Applied Sciences of Technology (NTB); Head: Institute for Quality Technology; Professor for Quality Technology: Lectures in Quality Assurance, Dimensional Measurement, Metrology and Quality Management. Technology Transfer: R&D Projects, Certified Industrial Measuring Services, Lecturer in Continuing Education. Responsible for approx. ten team members. Scientific Engineer at Fraunhofer Institute of Production Technology and Automation (IPA), Stuttgart until 1988; then Various positions in R&D, e.g. Head: Technical Marketing Department of the Automation and Medical Technology business unit, Bodensee Werk Gerätetechnik (BGT), Überlingen, Lake of Constance. Currently Professor of Quality Technology, Head, Institute for Quality Technology, NTB.
Christfried Pumm is Research & Development manager and in addition responsible for management systems (Quality and Environment) of Wenzel Präzision. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Darmstadt Technical University, joined Wenzel in the year 1987 and covered the positions of production control and production manager. Currently he is spokesman of specification workgroup within ia.cmm.
Joseph Resch has been working in dimensional metrology at Carl Zeiss IMT for nearly 20 years. He integrated optical and tactile sensors, articulation heads, controllers and various other components by calibration and measuring functionality in different software packages. The work was done as developer and leader of several projects successfully. Mr. Resch is managing head of the department for CMM Operating Systems at Carl Zeiss IMT. He is member of the I++ DME specification team.
Robert Waite has 32 years experience managing inspection activities for automotive companies in North America. He is chairman of the Metrology Interoperability Project Team under the Automotive Industry Action Group and author of the white paper "Need for a National Metrology Test Bed”. The project team (supporting a broad base of US industry) is collaborating with I++ and other standards organizations in the development of interoperable inspection systems.
Akram Yunas is the Program Manager of Collaborative Engineering & Product Development Projects at The Automotive Industry Action Group, a 1600 corporate member strong global trade association. Mr. Yunas has 25 years of technology transfer experience in the technical association field, in the automotive sector. He was with The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Engineering Society of Detroit and before AIAG, The Automation Society, where he served as the Executive Vice President from 1989-1999. The Conference had been moderated by Mr. Alfons Lindmayer who has more than 20 years experience in the metrology business at Carl Zeiss. After many years in application and sales, he has moved on to become manager of the Marketing & Business Strategy department for the last 8 years at Carl Zeiss IMT GmbH. Since the beginning of ia.cmm, he has been involved in various different work groups. Dowload documents
